Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 16, 2026
TailGrab is a Chrome extension that lets you copy the styles of elements on a web page as Tailwind CSS. This policy explains exactly what data the extension handles. The short version: the pages you look at are processed entirely on your device and are never sent to us.
What stays on your device
- Page content and styles. When you pick an element, TailGrab reads its computed styles in your browser to generate the Tailwind output. This processing happens locally. We never receive, store, or transmit the contents of the pages you visit.
- Local settings. Your daily free-usage count, your Pro license key (if entered), and a random device identifier are stored in your browser's local storage on your device.
What is sent to our server
The only time TailGrab contacts our server is to validate a Pro license. When you activate or re-check a license key, the extension sends to our licensing service (operated on Cloudflare):
- your license key, and
- a random device identifier generated by the extension (used to enforce the per-license device limit; it is not tied to your identity).
The free version does not contact our server at all.
Purchases
Payments for TailGrab Pro are processed by Paddle, which acts as the Merchant of Record and is the data controller for your payment information. We do not see or store your card details. From a completed purchase we receive your email address and a transaction identifier, which we use to issue your license key and provide support. See Paddle's privacy policy.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your data.
- We do not use it for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to TailGrab's core function.
- We do not include third-party analytics or tracking in the extension.
TailGrab's use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store Limited Use requirements.
Permissions
- activeTab — lets the extension read the current page only after you click the toolbar icon.
- scripting — injects the element picker into the current tab when you invoke it.
- storage — stores your usage count and license key locally.
Data retention & your rights
Local data is removed when you uninstall the extension or clear its storage. License records (key, purchase email, device activations) are kept while the license is active. To request access to or deletion of your license data, email us.
